After Karel Schwarzenberg, the former Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs, cried while listening to M. Varga’s “Tramvaj”, the master of celebrations Ladislav Snopko (former Czechoslovak Minister of Culture) was convinced that his intuition made sense again. His birthday was completed by a new vision, a new form of hymn melodies that brought people hope during the communist era. This moment took place a few years later directly in the Birdland recording studio. Four musicians (Oskar Török – trumpet, Joseph Lupták – cello, Sisa Fehér – vocals, Vladislav Šarišský – piano) recorded completely new versions of 13 Czechoslovak “anthems”. This CD and LP release is another service to the Slovak nation. Vladislav arranged all the songs so that the unseen and unheard could be understood in the present day.
